Personal Note:

I wanted to have kids as long as I can remember. I substituted playing house, dressing up pets, and babysitting until that day came. Fourteen years ago, I became the proud mother of triplets. Dress-up and house did not prepare me for them. Having multiples was quite overwhelming, from conception on. It forced me to pull from all I have learned personally and professionally to organize my own resources and parenting skills in the most efficient and effective way. In addition, loving them so completely continues to compel me to create the most positive, loving, peaceful home that I can for them. (I would tell you how awesome my kids are, but I'm pretty sure that simply surviving these fourteen years and still wanting to work in this area gives me enough credibility as a parenting expert!)

Edwards FamilyAs if that wasn't enough, I was already parenting my twelve year old step-daughter when they were born. I experienced all the challenges of raising a teenager and trying to navigate a step-parent/child relationship (that's the professional way of saying I often wished I could go to sleep and wake up when she was in college!). She is now a successful, independent adult, (I didn't sleep through it) and I look back and marvel at how we were able to work together to transform our relationship from complete strangers – to a loving, enduring, family connection.

I have experienced parenting both on my own and in a relationship. My experiences have been trying. However, when I have successfully followed my own advice and implemented effective skills, parenting has also been the most wonderful, rewarding, and enjoyable thing I've ever done. I began offering consultation services in order to help others create a similar experience with their parenting (perhaps minus the triplet part!).
